COKEVILLE — The Cokeville Branch Library hosted its November Book Review on Monday, Nov. 27. The book for November was “The Energy Bus.” Those participating enjoyed sharing ideas and comments.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — “We’re on our way to Yellowstone” was the cry of Mr. Hatch’s sixth-grade class on Monday, Nov. 6. This trip has been a highlight for students at Cokeville Elementary since 2003. Students begin preparing for this incredible trip when they enter elementary school as they participate in fundraisers each year to help fund this amazing opportunity. The bus pulled out Monday morning at 5:30, arriving in Yellowstone at 2:30 p.m. They were greeted by rangers who assisted and participated with them throughout the week. They were given a tour, unpacked and then it was off to their first hike of the week. They learned from the rangers about all the sights and sounds they would observe and hear and the importance of looking for items that represented Yellowstone.

The Cokeville Lady Panthers celebrated their 1A State Volleyball Championship on Thursday, Nov. 16, as they took a ride around town on a fire engine. COKEVILLE — Renowned author Brandon Mull stopped by Cokeville High School on Monday, Nov. 6, for an interactive presentation with CHS students. Mull is an American author best known for his children’s fantasy series, “Fablehaven,” as well as “Dragonwatch,” “The Candy Shop War,” the “Beyonders” trilogy and the “Five Kingdoms”series.

CASPER — The Cokeville Lady Panthers are back on top after winning the 1A state volleyball title in Casper over the weekend. This makes 26 state team titles for the Lady Panthers. The team was led by six incredible seniors and one junior libero with head coach Kristen Vierig and assistant Tanya Moyes at the helm.

The Lady Panthers headed to Riverton over the weekend for the 1A West Volleyball tournament. They came in as the No. 1 seed from the Southwest to face the No. 4 seed from the Northwest, Meeteetse.

COKEVILLE — Cokeville High School presented its Fall Concert on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The theme for the night was “Water Music.” Each selection was related to the theme. This was director Vince Burgoyne’s first performance at Cokeville High School.

The Cokeville Panthers hosted their final regular season game on Nate-Dayton Field against the Bobcats of Thermopolis on Friday, Oct. 13. The first half was a defensive battle, as both sides had a difficult time getting much offense going.

The Cokeville Parent-Teacher Organization met on Wednesday, Oct. 11, to put the final touches on the annual Halloween carnival. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Cokeville Elementary. On the menu are delicious soups, rolls and desserts.

The Panthers traveled to Rich High School on Friday, Oct. 6, taking on the Rebels on their home turf. It was a beautiful fall day, perfect weather for a great game. The Panthers won the toss and deferred to the second half. The Rebels chose to receive the opening kickoff. The Panther defense held the Rebels to a three and out. The Panthers took over deep in their own territory following a great punt by the Rebels.

COKEVILLE — Cokeville High School celebrated Homecoming this last week. Students enjoyed dress-up days, decorating lockers and entrances and the main events on Friday. Monday was USA day with everyone dressing in red, white and blue.

The Lady Panthers had a huge week on the road in volleyball action beginning with the Lady Eagles of Lyman on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Lady Panthers took the first set but lost the next three and the match to a strong Lady Eagle team.

KEMMERER — The Panthers traveled to Kemmerer to face the Rangers on their home turf in a cool night football game under the lights. The Panthers dominated the scoreboard in the first half, up 21-0 at halftime.

The Panthers traveled to Pinedale on Friday, Sept. 15, to face the Wranglers in a game under the lights. The Wranglers received the kickoff to begin the game. It was a defensive battle for the first quarter with the score remaining 0-0.

COKEVILLE — The Lady Panthers had two conference matches at home this week, hosting the Lady Rattlers of Snake River on Friday and the Lady Pronghorns of Farson on Saturday.

Cokeville City Councilman Colby Peck was appointed mayor of Cokeville at the town council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Mayor Peck will finish the current term following the recent passing of Mayor Stan Thompson. This appointment opens a seat on the town council that will be filled at a later date.

The Cokeville 2nd Ward held an end-of-summer picnic in the park on Monday, Aug. 28. There was delicious food, visiting and yard games. Thanks to everyone who helped with the event. Stanley Gene Thompson passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Faculty and staff of Cokeville Elementary and Cokeville High School were back to work on Monday, Aug. 14, preparing to begin another school year. Students returned on Monday, Aug. 21. Good luck to everyone as we kick off the 2023-24 school year.

On Saturday, July 22, Cokeville held the annual Pioneer Day celebration with many fun events. The 5K fun run/walk/bike kicked off the day with 31 participating. The route took participants along Cokeville’s beautiful west side just as the sun was peeking over the east hills. It was a beautiful setting and a great way to start the day.
