The Panthers traveled to Rich High School on Friday, Oct. 6, taking on the Rebels on their home turf. It was a beautiful fall day, perfect weather for a great game. The Panthers won the toss and deferred to the second half. The Rebels chose to receive the opening kickoff. The Panther defense held the Rebels to a three and out. The Panthers took over deep in their own territory following a great punt by the Rebels.

Fifteen plays later, as the Panthers marched down the field, Micah Petersen had a six-yard carry to put the Panthers up 6-0. The PAT by Jack Dayton was good and the Panthers were up 7-0.

The rest of the first half was owned by the defenses on both sides of the field as each team was forced to punt or turned the ball over on downs. Ryder Pope had a great hit late in the second quarter causing a fumble but the Rebel defense stayed strong. The score was still 7-0 at the half.

The Panthers received the kick to start the second half. The Rebel defense continued to be strong, and the Panthers went three and out. Andrew Jackman picked up a quick interception as the Panther defensive line put some great pressure on the Rebel quarterback. The Panthers missed a field goal attempt and the Rebels took the ball back.

Andrew Jackman had a fumble recovery late in the third quarter and the score remained 7-0. The Panthers got within striking distance inside the 10 but the Rebel defense wasn’t having it and took over on downs. The Panthers got the ball back but following a fumble with just under two minutes to go, the Rebels’ hopes were still alive.

But it was Jack Dayton who got a pick six on the next play and with a good PAT, the Panthers were now up 14-0. The final score was 14-0 for the Panthers. Micah Petersen had multiple sacks and single tackles throughout the game. It was a great game between two well coached teams.

They will host the Bobcats of Thermopolis on Friday, Oct. 13, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
