Three members of the 2023 Kemmerer High School football team were recognized over the weekend by the Wyoming Coaches Association for their outstanding contributions on the football field. Rangers Owen Barton, Gabe Emery and Graison Kelley were named to the 2A West All-Conference team.

The Kemmerer High School volleyball team may not have had the run through the playoffs they were hoping for, but the Lady Rangers were well-represented when postseason accolades were announced last week, with five players earning 2A Southwest All-Conference honors. Seniors Gracee Painter and Sophie Archibald and juniors Janae Skidmore, Natasha Martinez and Laynee Walker were recognized by the head coaches in their conference for their play on the court during the 2023 season.

The Southeast Cyclones fell a two-point conversion short of tying Saturday’s 1A 9-Man semifinal contest against Wind River and fell to the Cougars, 32-30.

For the second straight season, the Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team exceeded expectations, placing sixth overall at last weekend’s 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Gillette.

The Kemmerer High School volleyball team opened the 2A West Regional Tournament in Riverton Friday on a high note Friday afternoon with a win against Wind River, but soon came back to Earth Friday night and Saturday morning losing to Rocky Mountain and Big Piney, ending their season.

The Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team traveled to Green River last weekend for the 3A West Conference Championships, placing fourth as a team. Host Green River won the team title with 398 points, while Lander finished second, with 299 points. Rawlins was third with 168 points, followed by Kemmerer with 144 points; Evanston rounded out the Top 5, with 115 points.

The Kemmerer High School football team closed out what could best be described as a rebuilding season Friday, falling to 2A West rival Mountain View at home 42-0. Despite the lopsided final score, the Rangers (1-7, 0-6 in 2A West) played tough against the top team in 2A, moving the ball well at times against one of the state’s toughest defenses — regardless of class — and holding the Buffalos’ high-powered offense in check for much of the first half.

The Kemmerer High School volleyball team traveled to Big Piney last Thursday for a 2A Southwest Quadrant rematch against Big Piney.

The Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team competed at the Rawlins Invitational Saturday, finishing fifth as a team. Green River won the team title with 397.5 points, followed by host Rawlins in second with 201.5 points and Evanston in third, with 175.5 points. Lyman was fourth, with 153 points, and the Lady Rangers rounded out the Top 5 in the 7-team field with 130 points.

Hoping to replicate last season’s success against conference foe Pinedale Friday, the Kemmerer High School football team instead found a much-improved Wranglers team looking to keep their playoff hopes alive, falling on the road 36-6.

The Kemmerer High School football team couldn’t find an answer for Lyman’s high-powered rushing attack Friday at Ranger Stadium, giving up 435 yards on the ground in a 38-7 loss.

Kemmerer volleyball played Big Piney last Thursday in the battle for the top of the Southwest Quadrant. The Lady Rangers came away with the Homecoming win. They defeated the Lady Punchers in four sets: 25-17, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23.

KEMMEER — Plagued by turnovers and a fast start by the Cokeville offense, the Kemmerer High School football team saw its hopes for a second straight Homecoming win dashed Friday, falling to the Panthers 28-7. The loss drops the Rangers to 1-3 on the season; Cokeville improves to 3-1.

EVANSTON — The Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team closed out Homecoming Week at Saturday’s Evanston Invitational, placing third as a team. The Lady Rangers won three individual events, en route to 259 points. Host Evanston took the top spot with 371.5 points, followed by Lyman in second, with 273.5 points.

The Lady Rangers volleyball team is 2-0 in conference play after defeating St. Stephens Friday, and Wyoming Indian Saturday.

The Kemmerer High School boys’ golf team finished second overall at last weekend’s 2A State Golf Championship in Newcastle, with three Rangers earning All-State honors.

The Kemmerer High School football team hoped to carry the momentum of their Week 1 victory over Glenrock into their first road game of the season Friday, as they made the four-hour bus ride to Thermopolis. The Bobcats (1-2) had other plans. Taking full advantage of a Kemmerer squad that wasn’t quite playing to the potential they showed just a week before, the home team racked up 34 first-half points en route to a decisive first win of the season. The Rangers’ defense kept Thermop off the scoreboard in the second half, but was unable to take advantage of their own scoring opportunities in the 34-0 loss.

EVANSTON — The Kemmerer High School volleyball team competed at the Border Wars Tournament in Evanston over the weekend, playing hard, but posting an 0-8 record.

KEMMERER — The Kemmerer High School football team kicked off its 2023 campaign in fine fashion Friday, thumping visiting Glenrock 25-7 at Ranger Stadium. The Rangers didn’t attempt a single pass, simply because they didn’t need to — the three-headed monster of running backs Cole Rogers, Logan Emery and Gabe Emery combined for nearly 350 yards rushing, while Kemmerer’s defense allowed the Herders just 244 total yards.

The Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team opened the 2023 season over the weekend at the Bruce Gresly Pentathlon Saturday in Lander, with four Lady Rangers swimming and diving their way to state-qualifying performances. “Overall we had a great meet,” said KHS head coach Amanda Aimone. “We came away with five girls qualified for the state meet.”
