The Kemmerer High School football team couldn’t find an answer for Lyman’s high-powered rushing attack Friday at Ranger Stadium, giving up 435 yards on the ground in a 38-7 loss.

The loss drops the Rangers to 1-4 on the season (0-3 in 2A West), with three games remaining before the start of the postseason.

Coach Dale Anderson’s Eagles scored 16 points in both the first and second quarters to take a 32-0 lead at the break. Lyman’s Xander Lyman opened the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Kyse Hurdsman followed with a 28-yard score to make it 16-0.

In the second quarter, Hurdsman scored again, this time on a 32-yard run; Lyman quarterback Carter Bradshaw threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Hurdsman to close out the first half and make it 32-0.

In the third quarter, Lyman scored its last touchdown of the game, a 47-yard run by Bradshaw. Kemmerer’s defense held Lyman scoreless in the fourth, and running back Cole Rogers scored the Rangers’ only touchdown on a 13-yard run.

Offensively, the Rangers finished with 133 yards rushing for the game, led by Rogers, with 73 yards and a touchdown. Tanner Schramm finished with 22 yards on five carries, while Gabe Emery collected 21 yards on five carries. Under center, Schramm completed two passes for 10 yards.

Defensively for the Rangers’ Rogers led with 28 defensive points (9 tackles, 4 solo, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumbles recovered). Gabe Emery (12 tackles, 4 solo) and Colter Krell (14 tackles, 2 solo) finished with 16 points apiece, while Graison Kelly finished with 15 points (12 tackles, 3 solo). Logan Emery rounded out the double-digit defensive scorers with 12 points (6 tackles, 1 solo, 1 fumble recovered). Schramm (6 tackles, 2 solo) and Roany Proffit (7 tackles, 1 solo) collected eight points each.

The Rangers will host Pinedale Friday, in a battle of 1-4 teams.
