Mitch Albom’s newest book, “The Little Liar,” takes you on a journey from a war-torn Greek city to the glitz of Hollywood’s golden era. It follows three young survivors whose lives become tangled in a story filled with hope, forgiveness, and the dangers of lying.

At the center of the tale is eleven-year-old Nico Krispis, known for his honesty. While his friend Fannie loves him for it, his older brother Sebastian resents him. When war breaks out, their lives are turned upside down, tearing the family apart.

Nico’s honesty becomes a weapon when a German officer manipulates him, promising safety for his loved ones in exchange for Nico’s assistance. When Nico realizes he has been deceived and used by the German officer, he finds himself unwilling to speak the truth.  Nico then embarks on a journey of reinvention and redemption.

Albom’s storytelling shines as he explores the consequences of deception and the power of forgiveness. “The Little Liar” dives into the chaos caused by lies, both on a grand scale and in personal relationships. Like Albom’s other books, such as “The Stranger in the Lifeboat,” this one leaves you feeling hopeful.

Narrated by Truth itself, “The Little Liar” goes beyond its historical setting to deliver a timeless message about love and redemption. Albom’s writing draws you in, creating characters you’ll care about long after finishing the book.

“The Little Liar” is a gripping story that will tug at your heartstrings while making you think about the human experience. With its relatable characters and themes of forgiveness and resilience, it’s a book you won’t forget anytime soon.

“The Little Liar” is available across the Lincoln County Library System and on the LibbyApp.
