The Kemmerer Fossil & Mineral Expo is slated for Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, according to Managing Director and Fossil Oasis owner Keely Sweeney. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on both days, at the South Lincoln Training and Event Center.

In a press release to the Gazette, Sweeney wrote that the event would include several activities and booths pertaining to geological and paleontological subjects. Professional fossil hunters and gem miners will be among those featured. Attendees will be able to observe authentic dinosaur bones and minerals from around the world.

Family-friendly activities include a rock quarry containing fossil fish for K-12 students to find; a gem mine containing fossils and polished stones; a scavenger hunt with prizes sponsored by Fossil Lake Safari; door prizes; geodes; and an open auction closing at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. A portion of auction proceeds will benefit Fossil Basin Institute and the Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences.
