The Kemmerer High School volleyball team improved its record to 11-16-2 on the season last Thursday, beating visiting Big Piney in four sets, 25-15, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12. Lady Rangers head coach Jennifer Nielson was forced to get creative with her lineup, due to an untimely injury earlier in the week.

The Kemmerer High School football team ran into a buzzsaw of sorts last Thursday at Lyman, falling to the defending 2A State Champ 45-6. The loss drops the Rangers to 1-4 on the season (1-2 in 2A West), with three games remaining before the start of the postseason.

Hospital District receives grant for new grill

The Kemmerer High School girls’ swimming and diving team continued its march to the postseason over the weekend, turning in another solid performance at the Pinedale Invitational against a talented field of schools. The Lady Rangers placed fourth as a team in the eight-team field, just six points out of third. Lander took the team title with 326 points, followed by Jackson with 248.5 and Worland with 179.5. Kemmerer was fourth, with 171.5 points; Evanston rounded out the Top 5, with 118 points.

Smithsfork Bridge completed

A Star Valley Ranch man has been booked into the Lincoln County Jail and charged with attempted murder and assault. The charges stem from a domestic incident that resulted in a two-day search for the suspect, which ended when he turned himself into police.

Lincoln County was without a county planning director for nearly one year. Although small subdivisions were being processed, many large or major subdivisions for a total of 42 projects were put on hold. Those problems will soon be resolved as a new county planning director, Robert C. Davis, AICP, SMP from Hot Sulphur Springs, Co., was hired and began the position on August 29. “My first priority will be to get those projects moving through planning and zoning,” Davis said. “Some of those projects have been waiting over a year.”

The South Lincoln Medical Center Health Fair took place on Saturday, Sept. 17. “It was a success,” said CEO David Ryerse, “well attended and well organized.”
