Vera LaRay Paterson

Vera LaRay Paterson, age 72, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 4. She was born on May 4, 1947, in Laramie, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Lorna Irene (Taylor) Cantlin.

She married William Mathew Paterson, on Oct. 19, 1968, in Las Vegas.

LaRay lived a life of service to her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. They brought so much joy and happiness to her always. She enjoyed spending time with them and celebrating their accomplishments.

She loved to spend time crocheting, going to the rodeo, listening to George Strait music, dancing and gardening. She loved to spend time hunting in her earlier years, and she was the best baker and cook ever. She lived a life of passion, especially toward her family.

She loved and cared for everyone. She was also very passionate toward the U.S. Military, and cared deeply for those who serve our country. She enjoyed tattoo art and received her first tattoo at the age of 70. She was a devoted spouse and mother.

LaRay is survived by her husband, William M. Paterson of Opal; her children; a son, David Paterson of Louisiana; a daughter, Autumn Jones of Montana; and a daughter, Kimberly (Wayne) Cretsinger of Opal. She is also survived by her brothers, Chuck, Michael and Bernie; a sister, Denise; her grandchildren, Michael, William, Thomas Jones, Christopher and Josh; and six great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather.

LaRay’s wishes were to be cremated, and no services will be held at this time. Memorial donations may be made to that of the donor’s choice.

Ball Family Chapel has been entrusted to her care.
