Ruby Johnson

Ruby Naomi Johnson, age 90, died at South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer, Wyoming on October 16, 2017.  She was born in Sublet, Wyoming, on September 3, 1927, the daughter of Daniel Francisco and Mary Jane (Ivie) Castano. She married Holger Eric Johnson in 1946. They had a son, Edwin Johnson, born in June of 1948, and he preceded her in death.

Ruby lived in LaBarge for several years, taking time to enjoy growing a garden and spending time outdoors. Ruby loved to sew and make doll clothes. She was a wonderful seamstress.  She loved to play games at the LaBarge Senior Center, and spent numerous years working as a waitress, and cleaning homes for people. She was a collector of numerous items including, plates, dolls, spoons, and cups. Ruby was a very frugal lady. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings within the church. She was active in the Senior Center, and enjoyed hosting numerous Christmas parties. She enjoyed being around people.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and two brothers, Richard Daniel and Dennis Castano, both of Washington.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven sisters, three brothers, and her son, Edwin Johnson.

Funeral services for Ruby will be conducted on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the LaBarge LDS Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will follow services at the Viola Cemetery in LaBarge.
