We all must fight to end school shootings

Posted

As I am writing this letter, my heart goes out to everyone who was impacted by the Apalachee High School shooting on September 4th, 2024.

Because of this shooting which occurred in Georgia, nine people were injured and four were killed. This is one of many school shootings that have occurred, and I encourage everyone who will to take action.

Here in the United States gun violence is a serious issue, and as a future social worker I encourage Kemmerer and Diamondville residents to advocate for change. To advocate for change, residents can stress the importance of violence prevention programs, including in schools.

Additionally, residents can sign online petitions regarding background checks for gun ownership, and they can also go to amnestyusa.org to take action. In reality, there are so many things that people can do to fight against gun violence, and every voice matters.

No matter what action someone takes or where they are in the world, the action is important to ending gun violence and school shootings. Together we can all be advocates and put an end to gun violence and school shootings, but to do so we must all be fighters.

Let us fight to end deaths and injuries because of school shootings, and let us all be advocates for safe storage laws and thorough background checks. By being an advocate, change is made possible through the actions you take, and by taking these actions we may one day see the peace that the world deserves.
