He made history Saturday, Jan. 6, defeating his opponent from Pinedale in the finals to win the championship at 157 pounds in the 52nd Annual Tournament of Champions In Vernal, Utah. This tournament combines the best of the best across multiple states including, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. Petersen is the first Panther to win this tournament and bring home the gold. Also placing at the tournament were Ryder Pope, who went undefeated in the Varsity Second Chance; Flint Linford, first in junior varsity, and Cashton Walker and Clay Teichert, each earning second place in junior varsity.
