The Cokeville boys’ basketball team began its quest for a 1A State Basketball Championship on Thursday, Feb. 29, in Casper, taking on the Kaycee Buckaroos. The Panthers won this matchup easily, 64-34.

Justin Moyes had 18 points and 4 rebounds. Jack Dayton had 11 points, 4 steals and 3 assists. Kalob Haderlie had 9 points and 6 rebounds.

This win advanced the Panthers to the semifinal matchup against the Saratoga Panthers. The Cokeville Panthers fell behind in the second quarter and were unable to make up the deficit, falling 62-70.

Dayton had 25 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. Moyes had 20 points and 8 rebounds. Kayson Walker and Drake Plowman had 5 rebounds apiece.

The Panthers found themselves in the third-place matchup against the Farson Pronghorns. The Panthers took control from the beginning and got the big win and the third-place trophy, winning 68-54.

Moyes had 23 points and 6 rebounds. Dayton had 20 points, 4 steals and 4 rebounds. Ammon Hatch had 10 points. Plowman had 4 rebounds.

The Cokeville Lady Panthers went into the first round of the Wyoming State 1A Basketball Tournament in Casper on Thursday, Feb. 29, facing the Lady Red Devils of Hulett. The Lady Panthers dominated, winning 57-31.

Madi Dayton had 17 points and 3 steals. Addison Barnes had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Mia Dayton had 10 points and 4 steals. TyLeigh Dayton had 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Bryli Groll had 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Rachel Thomas had 4 steals.

This win advanced the Lady Panthers to the semifinal game against the Lady Cyclones of Southeast. The Lady Panthers got off to a slow start and were unable to claw their way back, losing 33-43.

Barnes had 16 points and 4 steals. Mia Dayton had 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Madi Dayton had 5 rebounds.

This loss dropped the Lady Panthers into the game for third place against the Lady Huskies of Burlington. The Lady Panthers lost a heart breaker, 47-49.

Mia Dayton had 12 points and 3 steals. TyLeigh Dayton had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Madi Dayton had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Groll had 6 rebounds, and Thomas had 3 assists.
