Each student did an amazing job getting into character. Those in attendance went away with smiles on their faces having had a wonderful time at the theater.

Andra Petersen has directed Cokeville High School Musicals for the past 23 years. She, along with Assistant Directors Nanette Cook and Marti Warner, have decided that it’s time to hand the baton off to new directors following this year’s musical production of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

When trying to decide which musical to direct this year, Petersen decided that it should be “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” coinciding with the 40th Anniversary of her own performance as Milly in the 1985 Cokeville High School’s performance of the production.

It would be the perfect finale for her directing career. Over the years, Petersen has had the ability to see talent in students they didn’t even see in themselves. She helped them develop and share their talents and abilities through music and acting.

Cook began her career as accompanist for Cokeville High School musicals and set designs. Over time, the music score evolved into prerecorded music. Cook, along with her husband, Ken continued set design and construction. Warner was behind the scenes in charge of sound and lights along with rounding up props and other necessities to put on the perfect show.

“While Cook was a master on the piano keys, Warner was a master on the sound and light boards,” Petersen said.

This trio came in together and will go out the same way, together. Prior to Saturday’s performance, they were surprised as they entered the main commons at Cokeville High School to find it filled to overflowing with students involved in past musicals, all there to honor and celebrate with the three in their final night as directors at Cokeville High School.

The party continued as the current actors put on a great performance. Following the final curtain call, Petersen, Cook and Warner were honored with a video presentation of past musicals and a standing ovation that was well deserved.
