The book “Silver in the Bone” by Alexandra Bracken is set in contemporary Boston. Tamsin is a young human hollower with no magic to help her in the dangerous life of being a hollower.

She is also trying to save her brother Cabell. Tamsin and Cabell look for lost magical items that the sorceresses want in their possession.

Their most recent job is for a powerful sorceress, which gives some hope of finding her lost authoritarian caretaker Nash. Nash is the last person to know of an item to help her brother and that which the sorceress seeks.

Searching for a powerful magical item known as The Ring of Dispelled, Tamsin embarks on a quest.  With its last known possessor, Nash, whom the other followers now presume is dead.

With a deep hatred for Nash, Tamsin is forced to go looking for him to find the ring. With the lead of his last known whereabouts, they set out to find the ring, which is the only item that can help her brother.

Determined to find the ring and help her brother, Tamsin sets off alone, with the only clue the last place Nash was seen alive. However, she is now also being watched and hunted by the rest of the hollowers for the ring, and Nash.

Yet, Tamsin remains resolute, certain that Nash has left behind a clue for her to discover.

Reluctantly, Tamsin finds herself accepting aid from her nemesis, Emry, who insists on accompanying her on the quest. Together, they embark on a journey fraught with danger and uncertainty.

Along the way, they encounter Cabell and a young sorceress, both also in search of the elusive ring. Together, they uncover a startling revelation — the ring lies in a realm beyond their own.

Their path takes them to Avalon, but what they find is not the idyllic paradise of legend. Instead, they are met with chaos and destruction as Lord Death seeks to destroy Avalon and escape from the Avalonian plane.

Filled with thrilling escapades, unexpected turns, and betrayals, this book promises a riveting journey to adventure and madness that you won’t want to miss.
