On July 16th 2017, Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Andy Jackson stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
During the course of the stop, Trooper Jackson deployed his drug sniffing K9 which gave a positive indication for drugs within the vehicle.
In searching the vehicle, a large bag of high quality methamphetamine was found, as well as a small amount of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, and over $8,000.00 in cash. The methamphetamine weighed just over one pound.
It is believed that this is the largest seizure of methamphetamine in the history of Lincoln County.
Approximate street value of the Methamphetamine is over $45,000.00.
Allen Clontz, 50, of Boise, Idaho, and Klayr Kelly, 31, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming have both been charged with Possession of controlled substances, and Possession with the intent to deliver controlled substances, and are being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center, in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Bond was set at $125,000.00 and $100,000.00 respectively.
Both cases have been bound over to District Court for additional hearings and a trial to be scheduled.
