Wilson pleads not guilty at first district court appearance in Lincoln County

Posted

Allan Wilson made his first appearance in District Court in Lincoln County on Monday, July 16. Judge Joseph Bluemel presided.

Wilson, 56, pled not guilty to three counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Deputy Lincoln County attorney Blaine Nelson informed Judge Bluemel that there has been a motion filed to combine Wilson’s Lincoln County case into a special Sweetwater County prosecution case so that there won’t be separate trials.

Bluemel set a tentative trial date for Oct. 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lincoln County courthouse. The date and place of the trial may change, depending on if the case is combined into the Sweetwater County trial.

Bluemel did grant Wilson permission to leave the state to go to Salt Lake City for doctor appointments for him and his wife, as long as the court is given advance notice.

The first count that Wilson is accused of is 1st degree sexual abuse of a minor, which alleges that between April 29 and Sept 1 of 2011 in Lincoln County, Wilson committed sexual intrusion of a minor and incest with a minor. If convicted of Count 1, the  penalties are up to 50 years of imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

Count 2 is 2nd degree sexual abuse of a minor, which alleges that between April 21 and Sept. 1 of 2011 in Lincoln County, Wilson had sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13, including touching with intent of arousal or abuse. If convicted of Count 2, the penalties are up to 20 years of imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

Count 3 is 3rd degree sexual abuse of a minor, which alleges that April 29 and Sept 1 of 2011 in Lincoln County, Wilson took immoral liberties with a minor who was less than 17 years of age, and that Wilson was more than four years older than the alleged victim. If convicted of Count 3, the penalty is up to 15 years of imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.

If Wilson is convicted of all three counts, he could face up to 85 years of imprisonment and a $30,000 fine.
