The preliminary hearing in Lincoln County circuit court for Green River city councilman Allan Wilson has been postponed for the third time. The new date for the preliminary hearing is Monday, April 30.
Wilson has been charged with first degree sexual abuse of a minor in Lincoln County and second degree sexual abuse of a minor in Sweetwater County.
If Wilson is found guilty of both counts, he could face up to 70 years in prison.
Blaine Nelson, Deputy County and Prosecuting Attorney in Lincoln County, has filed a motion for an order to postpone the preliminary hearing in Lincoln County, which was scheduled for March 30, until April 30, in the Lincoln County Circuit Court.
Wilson was not available for comment.
The state conferred with counsel for the defendant Nathan Jeppsen on March 2, and determined that a meeting to discuss preliminary matters is in the best interest of the case, according to court documents filed on March 6, 2018. Therefore, to facilitate this meeting both parties agreed that a continuance is appropriate so that the parties have time to meet.
The defendant will not be adversely affected as he previously signed the waiver for a speedy trial and is currently out on bond.
According to the Clerk of District Court, a defendant will typically waives the right to a speedy trial so that they can better prepare for their defense. Wilson is serving as an officer on the Commissary Ranch Property Owners Association Board.
Wilson was arrested in January in Sweetwater County after being accused of sexually assaulting a young boy repeatedly in 2011 and also in 2013 in both Lincoln and Sweetwater counties.
