Kemmerer senior Hayden Walker has been selected to play in the annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game.\

Walker will play on the south team, which is coached by Big Piney’s Aaron Makelky.

Players chosen to participate in this game are seniors who were first nominated by the head coach of their individual team. From the list of nominations, Shrine Bowl coaching staff collaborated to select the 36 players on each roster.

“I am incredibly excited for Hayden,” said head football coach Bart Jernigan. “Being selected to participate in the Shrine Bowl is a real honor. Hayden will represent our program, school, and community with a level of excellence that we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy from him these past few years.”

“The Shrine Bowl offers our athletes (a chance) to show their athletic abilities but also to help be part of the important task of raising money for kids in need,” Jernigan continued. “That combination truly fits Hayden well, as he’s been both a great athlete and citizen in our school and community. I am excited to watch him participate in the Shrine Bowl events this summer.”

The last Kemmerer football player to be invited to the Shrine Bowl was Matt Archibald in 2013. Kemmerer High School has sent 62 players to the Shrine Bowl since the first contest in 1974. The game will be played on Saturday, June 8, at the Dick Cheney Memorial Field in Casper.
