The Lady Rangers of Kemmerer put up a fierce battle against Pinedale at the regional competition.

They won the first set 25-18, knocking Pinedale off their feet. However, the next three games went to Pinedale with scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-20. The Rangers tried to fight back in the last set and were unable to make it work.

“We had a plan against Pinedale; the girls executed it and we won the first game and battled the others. Pinedale adjusted, we didn’t,” Coach Jennifer Nielson said. “3A is, in my opinion, the toughest conference and being the smallest school, we were competitive with all of them. Our record might not show that but visiting with other coaches in our conference they said we were a team to watch. I’m very proud of the girls this season. I know we wished it turned out different, but we are glad we were able to have a season.”

The Rangers were unable to make it to the state competition. For many this was their last year on the team.

“I’m so proud of my team and thankful for the past couple of years with them,” senior Aspen Pollard said. “Jen was an amazing coach and made my last year of volleyball one of the best. The best moment of the season was our last game against Pinedale.”

While many could be down about the loss, Coach Nielson is excited for next season.

“We will start to rebuild for next season,” Nielson said. “We have some freshmen coming up that I think will make a difference and we will go to battle again.”
