Locomotive No. 844 stops in Kemmerer. Dozens of community members came out to see the old train on Wednesday, April 19. After stops in Idaho and Utah, the steam engine is scheduled to arrive in Evanston at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday before heading east at 10:45. Following several more stops in Wyoming, Union Pacific’s No. 844 is scheduled to arrive in Cheyenne at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The complete schedule is available at http://www.up.com/aboutup/special_trains/steam/details.shtml. No. 844, the Living Legend, returned to service in 2016 to pull the Cheyenne Frontier Days special and then journeyed to Memphis for the grand opening of Big River Crossing. Meanwhile, work continues to restore the Big Boy, No. 4014. (COURTESY PHOTO/ Linda Naoi Goetz)
