Swimming ties for seventh at state

The swim team made their way to the state competition this week. The swimmers worked hard and tied for seventh place of the 13 teams present at state. Not only that, but two school records were also broken last weekend.

The 200-yard medley relay team featuring Seth Krell swimming backstroke, Aiden Runnion swimming breaststroke, Brayden Dearden swimming the fly, and Conner Dietrich swimming freestyle finished with a new record time of 1:43.13. Senior Brayden Dearden broke the school record for the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:00.91.

Additionally, Seth Krell was announced by the Wyoming Coaches Association to recieve All-State honors. For boys’ swimming, first and second place in individual events as well as the winning relay team in each class at the state meet are awarded All-State, according to WCA guidelines. Seth Krell received the All-State honor for his second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Results:

The team featuring Seth Krell, Aiden Runnion, Brayden Dearden and Conner Dietrich placed fourth out of 11 teams in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.13.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Aiden Runnion placed seventh with a time of 22.86 and Seth Krell placed 10th with a time of 23.30.

In the 100-yard fly, Brayden Dearden placed 10th with a time of 1:00.67.

In the 200-yard freestyle, the team featuring Aiden Runnion, Seth Krell, Brayden Dearden and Camden Killian placed sixth with a time of 1:35.51.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Seth Krell placed second with a time of 56.10.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Brayden Dearden placed fifth with a time of 1:01.37. Aiden Runnion placed eighth with a time of 1:03.26.

The Preliminaries:

In the preliminaries, Darren Smith placed 24 out of 32 swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle. Conner Dietrich placed 13 out of 21 swimmers in the 200-yard IM. Camden Killian placed 16 out of 30 swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle. Darren Smith placed 26 out of 27 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke. The team featuring Coner Dietrich, Darren Smith, Camden Killian and Aaron Despain placed 13 in the 400-yard free, missing the 12th position by two seconds.
