Last weekend was a whirlwind of competititon for the Kemmerer Rangers boys’ swim team. On Friday, Jan. 19, the boys competed at the Lyman Invitational. On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Rangers competed at Green River.
Lyman meet
The Rangers were pitted against Green River, Lyman, Rock Springs, Sublette County and Evanston at the Jan. 19 Lyman invite.
The boys kicked off the races with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay from the team of sophomore Benjamin Wergin, freshman Brayden Dearden, senior Carl Krell and sophomore Easton Rydstrom.
Carl Krell took first in the 200-yard freestyle, with Alvaro de Vicente in 8th place.
Easton Rydstrom earned sixth place in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.
Krell earned another first place with the 500-yard freestyle. Alvaro de Vicente took 3rd in that event.
Benjamin Wergin swam to fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Grady Killian in 8th.
The team of Wergin, Krell, Rydstrom and de Vicente took third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay at the last event of the meet.
Green River meet
The Ranger boys swam against Green River, Lyman, Rock Springs and Sublette County at the Green River meet on Jan. 20.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Benjamin Wergin, Carl Krell, Brayden Dearden and Easton Rydstrom swam well once again, earning a third place finish.
In the 200-yard freestyle, de Vicente finished 5th.
Krell earned second place in the 200-yard IM. Krell earned first place in the 100-yard butterfly.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Wergin swam for a fourth place finish, with Rydstrom in 8th.Wergin earned third place in the 100-yard freestyle race.
The team of Wergin, Rydstrom, Krell and de Vicente placed second in the 200-yard freestlye relay.
Freshman Brayden Dearden finished the meet for the Rangers with a 6th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Rangers boys’ swim team competes in Pinedale on Saturday, Jan. 27.
