The Wyoming state track archives recognize almost 5000 state track champions since the introduction of a women’s division in 1972.  Surprisingly, almost half of these champions repeated a title in the same event. In fact, 30 percent of state track titles are accomplished by individuals defending their title from a previous year.  Champions have three-peated in an event 200 times, representing 13 percent of the total. A four-peat in an event has happened 58 times, or five percent of the total state championships during this time period. A total of 40 women have four-peated while only four men have accomplished the feat.

The discussion of dominant state champions has to begin with Amber Henry of Mountain View. Henry must have made the purple people in the stands proud as she swept the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter runs during her high school track career which ended in 2009. She added three titles in the 400-meter dash to finish with 15 total state track titles. As a freshman and sophomore, she competed as part of a small 3A team, and finished her last two years in the 2A ranks.

Emily Moore of Gillette also graduated in 2009 and owns 14 state track titles. Moore swept the 200-meter dash and long jump and added three-peats in the 100-meter dash and triple jump.

Kereston Thomas (2012) of Rawlins dominated the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes during her high school career. Thomas added a title in the high jump her sophomore year to finish with 13 total state titles.

Francie Faure (1985) from Worland swept the 800-meter and 1600-meter events. Faure added three titles in the 400-meter dash and two in the 3200-meter run to finish her career with 13 state track titles.

Maggie Ochsner (2008) of Lingle swept the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Ochsner added three titles in the 100-meter hurdles and two titles in the 300-meter hurdles. She graduated with 13 state track titles.

Ronda Munger (1984) of Wheatland was able to compete in six events at the state meet. Munger repeated titles in all six of her events: the 100-meter dash, 200-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, triple jump and shotput. Her total:  12 state titles.

Jerayah Davis (2014) of Kelly Walsh swept the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Davis added two titles in the long jump and one in the 400-meter dash to finish with 11 state titles.

Emily Higgins (2006) of Rocky Mountain swept the 800-meter and 3200-meter events and three-peated in the mile to finish her career with 11 state titles.

Kim Shumway (2014) of Lovell swept the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Shumway added two state titles in the 800-meter dash and one in the mile to finish with 11 state titles.

Blaine Stulc (1990) of Greybull won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs every year of his high school career. Stulc added three titles in the 800-meter dash to finish with 11 state titles.

Stephanie Hium (1986) of Tongue River finished with 11 state titles. Hium four-peated in the 800-meter dash.  Andrea Janicek (1981) of Pine Bluffs and Kaylie Moyles (2014) of Cokeville also won 11 individual state titles but did not four-peat in an event.

Other athletes to four-peat in an event are:  Jodi Aimone, Mountain View, 100-meter hurdles, 1991; Kevin Allen, Upton, discus, 2012;  Jeanna Bair, Rocky Mountain, 1600-meter and 3200-meter, 1993;  Sarah Balfour, Natrona, 1600-meter and 3200-meter, 2005;  Melanie Brunko, Burlington, long jump and triple jump, 1998;  Jolene Buckley, Cokeville and Mountain View, 300-meter hurdles, 1997;  Jesseca Cross,
