South Lincoln Medical Center Health Fair a success

The South Lincoln Medical Center Health Fair took place on Saturday, Sept. 17.
“It was a success,” said CEO David Ryerse, “well attended and well organized.”
Several hundred people visited the fair in the four hours it was open. In terms of services available, Ryerse said, “Every year is a little unique.” The hospital had offered blood draws prior to the event and results were available at the health fair. Organizers and volunteers highlighted services the organization does, and had several booths from outside groups. These included Intermountain Health Care, Huntsman Cancer Institute, the sheriff’s department, EMS, search and rescue, dermatology and Wyoming Health Fairs, among many others.

In addition to blood draw results, there was an opportunity for patients to get blood test results reviewed. The hospital has introduced new providers, including family nurse practitioner Kyla Franklin and family practice physician Joseph Behunin.
Ryerse said feedback tends to be positive. “Being in Wyoming, we always see a warm reception.” According to Lincoln Medical Center Marketing and Foundation Strategist Holly Jorgensen, the health fair is always a lot of work, but is worth the effort.
She concluded by saying, “The health fair is not just meant to help people who are sick, but to educate those who are well and keep them well.” Jorgensen and Ryerse expressed their gratitude for employees and community members who make their event possible and continue to contribute to its success.
