The Wyoming Department of Transportation with contract crews from Lewis & Lewis will be temporarily closing the sidewalk over the viaduct bridge on U.S. 189 in Kemmerer. As construction on the bridge moves to the northbound lane, the sidewalk will be temporarily closed for the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
With improved weather and good progress over the last week, contractors Lewis & Lewis and Coldwater Group are ready to move traffic to the northbound lane and begin work on the second half of the bridge. For the safety of the public, this move will require that pedestrian traffic be restricted.
All efforts will be made to keep the closure as short as possible, said WYDOT Resident Engineer Jennifer Hoffman.
Local traffic will continue to see reduced lanes and two-way traffic on the bridge over the railroad tracks near Quartz Street. The completion date for the project is October of this year.
WYDOT would like to remind drivers to slow down in work zones, be alert and cautious of roadside workers and obey all traffic control devices. More frequent updates are available on the WYDOT Kemmerer Facebook page or you can call 877-3239.
