Many local general deer hunting seasons will open Sunday, October 1, and general elk seasons are not far off. There were many changes made to deer hunting seasons and your local Wyoming Game and Fish Department deer managers want to give deer hunters a heads up about those changes.
Because of severe winter conditions, many mule deer did not survive the winter. Deer hunters in southwest Wyoming will notice a decrease in mule deer numbers, and it will be tough hunting. Many general hunting seasons in southwest Wyoming are shorter than in previous years and many of them have a three points or more on either antler restriction on any white-tailed deer. Hunters are reminded to read the hunting regulations before going hunting. If you are hunting deer on a General License, make sure you know the opening and closing dates for those deer areas on a general license and also if any restrictions apply.
