While shopping at Kemmerer’s Ridley’s Market recently, you may have been asked to add a five dollar donation to your purchase.
Ridley’s has been in the spirit of giving this holiday season with the launch of their Caring for Sharing fundraiser.
Each store location has the option to choose a local charity to donate their collections to, and the Ridley’s in Kemmerer is giving their donations to the local food bank.
One Kemmerer employee has taken this task to an extraordinary level with her collection efforts. Anita White has single-handedly raised over $3,000 since the start of the fundraiser in November.
“We are helping locals,” White said. “I am new here to Kemmerer, and it makes me think I did move to the right place.”
White moved to Kemmerer from Cheyenne over the summer, and she said the community has embraced her warmly.
“I moved to a great town,” White said.
White also said she is overwhelmed by the generosity the residents of Kemmerer have shared through the Caring for Sharing program.
Ridley’s store manager John Brandis said all the employees have been doing a great job asking for donations, but none have come close to the numbers White has achieved.
In fact, White’s donation totals have exceeded some entire store collections throughout Wyoming.
“Giving back to the community feels good,” Brandis said. “It’s such a great feeling when Christy Cook from the food bank comes in to collect the donations.”
The efforts of the Ridley’s employees and the generosity of the customers have made a big difference in the food bank’s pantry supply this season. The store will be collecting donations until the end of December.
Help keep the spirit of giving alive in Kemmerer and support the Caring for Sharing program.
Don’t worry, if you have not already donated, Anita will be sure to ask you soon.
