Lines were seen at many polling stations around Wyoming, and the country. Voters came out in numbers previously unheard of in a presidential election. The 2020 election has been one to watch, and still is. As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, the race for president is still unknown. Many new organizations are reporting that we may not know until the end of the week as a few states are still counting ballots. One thing is for sure, Donald Trump definitely won Lincoln County with more than 7,000 votes over Joe Biden.
Cynthia Lummis and Liz Cheney both swept Lincoln County by a large margin and went on to win across the state.
Bill Thek defeated Robert Bowen for Kemmerer mayor by 69 votes. In a post on Facebook, Thek said, “I want to thank everyone that supported me at the polls. I truly appreciate your confidence and will do my best for our city. I was absolutely excited to see the number of people voting today. In all my years I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people at the polls as I witnessed today!!”
Another notable win was Jamie Thornock for Kemmerer City Council, who received 379 more votes than her next closest competitor.
Kristi Dearden, who ran for the Lincoln County School District No. 1 trustees four-year term, received 252 votes more than her closest competitor. Dearden posted a thank you on Facebook and added, “I love this community and am honored to serve you!”
All court votes were approved as well as all lodging tax votes. All state senator and representative candidates were running unopposed.
