On Saturday, May 5, Star Valley was the site for the latest stop on the spring golf tournament schedule. Five teams from southwest Wyoming played under ideal warm and windless conditions.

Evanston won the boys’ team event. Second place went to host Star Valley. The Kemmerer Range boys earned third place, followed by Pinedale and Lyman.

Leading the Rangers were Ty Hysell and Rayce Kindschuh at 88 each. Next for the Rangers was Ben Wergin at 93. Brandon Crank shot a 108, and rounding out the varsity team scoring was Shawn Crank at 110.

The J.V. boys saw a career-best round by freshman Caysen Smith with a 90. Next was Michael Clarke with 105. Sophomore Trenton Skidmore came in with a 114. Rounding out the J.V. team scoring was Easton Countryman at 122.

Evanston also won the girls’ team event, and the Lady Rangers earned second place. Leading the Lady Rangers was Linnea Ryman with a career best of 91. Next was Charity Chamberlain at 109. Jenna Krell had a good day with a score of 114. Kinzee Painter came in with a fine 115. Rounding out the girls’ team scoring was Catherine Rily at 121.

This was another great golf day, and the boys and girls played very well under ideal conditions. The boys’ team had a very good day, and the girls’ team played their best meet of the year. They are getting ready for the spring championship this week in Wright. We are hoping for continued good play by both the boys and girls teams. We have a chance to do very well this week.
