Public invited to open house at new Jackson administrative office

JACKSON HOLE — The Bridger-Teton National Forest has completed the construction on the new administrative office in Jackson, Wyoming and will be hosting an open house for all members of the public on Wednesday, August 30, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The office was constructed in just short of 18-months and employees of the Jackson Ranger District and the Bridger-Teton National Forest Supervisor's Office occupied the building in mid-June, 2017.  The building received 2 Green Globes for its sustainability merit and green construction. The open house of the office, which houses the 80-employees, will offer locals a chance to see the inside of the building, view the newly installed sculptures donated by former Forest employee and local artist John Simms, and to learn a bit about the sustainable features of the high-tech structure.

The office is heated and cooled with geothermal wells which pull heat from, as well as deposit heat into the ground, depending on what is needed. "We wanted locals to have a chance to see the new office after putting up with so many months of dirt and construction, but we purposefully wanted to wait until after the eclipse," said Forest Supervisor Tricia O'Connor.

Forest employees will be on hand at the ribbon cutting, scheduled for 10:00am on the morning of the 30th. Afterwards, light refreshments will be served in the lobby and tours will be offered for anyone who is interested.
