FIRE UPDATE – Firefighters continue to make progression on the southern edge of the fire. Direct and indirect fire lines are complete along the southern edge. Firefighters work diligently despite the steep and rugged terrain. Heavy dead and down fuel and falling snags, still remain a challenge for firefighters.

Planned actions today will be to hold and contain hotspots along the southern fire edge. Crews will utilize helicopters to direct bucket drops on hot spots. Due to the progress over the last few days, spike camp will be dismantled and all firefighters will return to the Incident Base Camp nightly.

Tree felling crews will continue to support the hand crews and remove hazard trees along the perimeter.

Today’s forecast will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers giving crews another day to take advantage of the moderate weather to meet incident objectives.
