The patient process of managing the Pole Creek fire continues. Fire managers watch the weather and continue to plan for firefighters to keep the fire steered to the northeast into the area of the Fontenelle Fire of 2000. That area of reduced fuel will limit fire spread until precipitation can put the fire out.
This strategy allows fire managers to focus limited resources on the south and northwest sides of the fire, closer to areas of value such as structures, grazing, and Hams Fork Road and Campground.
Firefighting resources are limited due to the severe outbreak of fires in the west. Personnel and equipment are being sent to fires that are a higher priority due to the homes and other values that are threatened. This includes the Infrared Imagery Assets that help fire managers identify hotspots and the fire perimeter. This means acreage updates will not come daily but only as new data becomes available.
