Cause: Human Caused

There are currently 496 personnel on this incident, including the following resources:
Crews are continuing to make progress around the southern edge of the fire utilizing both direct and indirect tactics to construct line. Firefighters will be spiked out on the fire line in order to spend more time looking for the safest and most effective route to contain the fire.
Scouting is necessary due to heavy dead and down timber, as well as steep and rugged terrain that poses risk to fire personnel. Once properly scouted and deemed safe to work in, crews will continue to hold and construct containment lines working from west to east on the southern perimeter of the fire.
More accurate mapping has now shown the fire at 3,027 acres. While growth of the fire has been minimal due to agreeable weather and light burning activity, crews are remaining conscientious of the potential for growth within the heavy fuel type.
Thunderstorms are expected today and have potential to bring strong and gusty winds to the area. Rainfall of up to ¼” is also being forecasted. The high winds may hamper firefighting efforts due to the risk of falling trees and other hazards.
The Bridger Teton National Forest area closure issued August 7, 2017 remains in effect. Forest users are reminded to be alert for heavy vehicle traffic from firefighters on narrow roads and to stay out of the closure area.
