The Dino Half Marathon makes its way through Vernal, Utah, or Dinosaurland, every year. Vernal is dubbed Dinosaurland because they are home to the largest quarry of Jurassic dinosaur bones, according to the race website. Their motto? Outrun extinction. This year, Owen Burnett did just that.
Burnett finished the 5k in first place with a time of 1 hour 19 minutes and 57 seconds. His mile pace was 6:06 per mile. There were 239 racers in the half marathon with times up to three and a half hours. The average finish time was 2:01:69, according to finish time data.
This comes directly after Burnett was approved by Lincoln County School District No. 1 to run cross country for Mountain View.
