The newly formed Historic Preservation Commission will host the third “Echoes of the Past” presentation at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Kemmerer Library.
Linda Goetz will lead the presentation, which will be another evening focusing on local historic buildings in Kemmerer and Diamondville that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Goetz previously presented on this topic with the now-disbanded Kemmerer Main Street.
“We will focus on local buildings built after 1935,” Goetz told the Gazette. “Anything 50 years or older is eligible for the National Register.”
Guidelines for historic preservation were outlined in the 1966 National Historic Preservation Act. Factors that determine if a building is eligible for the NRHP include age, significance, integrity and design.
