Mary Katherine McClure, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Beaver Dam, Arizona, on Feb. 18. She was born on May 2, 1950, in Akron, Ohio.

She is the youngest of two daughters born to Winston and Lillian (Herman) Pedigo. Her family moved to Scottsdale when she was a child. There she was raised with her sister, Karen, and graduated from Scottsdale High School in 1968.

Shortly after graduating high school, she married and moved to Kemmerer, where she had two children, DeeDee and Justin. Mary adored her kids, and there is nothing she would not have done for them.

While living in Kemmerer, she made many friends waitressing and working as the deputy clerk treasurer for the city of Kemmerer.

On Aug. 10, 2001, she married Lonnie McClure. Upon retirement, they have been snow-birding between Wyoming and Arizona, where they have made many incredible friends. They have had many adventures traveling throughout the country, taking side-by-side rides and just enjoying life. Lonnie has loved her unconditionally and took care of her up until the very end.

She loved all things baseball, especially the New York Yankees. She loved Mexican food, cooking and baking. She loved to crochet, and many of you may have one of her special holiday towels.

She would never pass up a chance to sit in the sunshine with an adult beverage or take a ride to watch a sunset. She found great joy in watching her children, their friends, and her grandchildren in their activities over the years, and she always made a point to be there to make birthdays and holidays special.

Mary was an amazing woman who left a permanent mark on people’s hearts. Many of you have reached out with such kind words: “She was always a ray of sunshine.” “One of the kindest and best of women.” “Such a beautiful lady.” “Mary was a light.” “So lovely and funny.” “Mary was a perfect example of what every human being should be like.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Lillian.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie McClure of Beaver Dam, Arizona; sister, Karen Coyle of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, DeeDee Waldner (David) of Kemmerer; son, Justin Durant (Heidi) of Sparks, Nevada; stepson, Zachary McClure of Idaho Falls, Idaho; niece, Ronda Duryea (David) of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandchildren, LaRanda, Katherine, Derek, Beckett, Mason, Dominic and Bryson.

Thank you to everyone who has called or sent a message. A celebration of life with be held at a later date per her request.
