Kemmerer wrestlers traveled to the Intermountain Warrior Challenge on March 9  and 10 in Pocatello, Idaho. The tournament drew more than 800 wrestlers from more than100 clubs in the west.

Kemmerer had eight wrestlers competing for a title. Hayden Walker, Riggen Walker, Donny Proffit, Roany Proffit, Dawson Schramm, Logan Bauers, Jace Barton and Owen Barton all wrestled for the Kemmerer team.

Hayden, Donny and Dawson were in the high school division, with brackets stacked full of state champions from Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Montana.

Hayden Walker battled through his bracket to capture a first place finish at the 170-pound weight class.

Donny Proffit (138) had a great weekend, wrestling through a 32-man bracket and earning a third place finish.

Dawson Schramm wrestled great matches in the 126-pound division, finishing in the third place spot.

Riggen Walker competed in the middle school 112-pound weight class and wrestled his way to a sixth place finish.

Roany Proffitt and Logan Bauers were entered in the novice division and then stepped up to the middle school division to take on some tough opponents. Neither wrestler placed in the top six, but wrestled well, winning matches in both brackets and finishing just short of placing.

Jace Barton was entered in the intermediate 120-pound class and finished second. Owen Barton entered in both the novice and middle school divisions, earning a second place finish in the novice and coming up just short of placing in the middle school bracket.

These boys had a great tournament against some top-notch wrestlers.

Four Kemmerer High School wrestlers — Hayden Walker, Donny Proffit, Dawson Schramm and Colter Julian — are preparing to travel to Virginia Beach for the High School Nationals Wrestling Tournament March 22 to 25. Diamondville Dominators Club wrestlers are preparing for their state tournament  April 11 and 12.
