The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous inquiries into current investigations and specifically investigations regarding juveniles and school safety. The Sheriff’s Office does not comment on juvenile investigations and is in fact prohibited from confirming juvenile investigations.
Because of the numerous requests for information and the concern expressed over possible investigations, the Sheriff’s office provides the following –
Juvenile safety and protection is always a priority of law enforcement. Any report to the Sheriff’s Office will be completely and thoroughly investigated in consultation with the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office. There is nothing the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating that would lead us to believe there is a concern of student safety regarding school travel or school sponsored activities. The Sheriff’s Office works closely with LCSD #1 to insure the safety of all students.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage parents to discuss personal and school safety with their school-age children on a routine basis.
