Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asks individuals to avoid calling for non-emergency situations during eclipse

Afton, WY​ - During the dates of August 18th-22nd Lincoln County is expecting a substantial amount of travelers from around the world to experience the Total Eclipse that is happening August 21st. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is working to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors. This is our top priority.

During this time we expect to have a high volume of calls coming into our dispatch centers. Calls will be prioritized and dispatched accordingly. The Sheriff’s Office is asking that individuals calling for non emergency situations, to please schedule the services after August 22nd, due to this solar event.

Examples of non emergency calls include:

  • Vin Inspections
  • Vin Stamps
  • Controlled Burns
  • Civil Standbys
  • Fingerprinting
  • Animal Complaints
  • Abandoned Vehicles
  • Parking Problems
