As I’ve been riding around the countryside enjoying the Wyoming spring, I’ve noticed a lot of piles of grass and limbs on just about any 2 track around Kemmerer.
Even though this is all biodegradable stuff I still figured this was littering, and hey there might have been a nice arrowhead or a beautiful rock under that pile of grass — who knows, right? Anyway, I got it figured out now. I trimmed a tree on my front lawn yesterday, and like a good citizen, headed for the dump.
They were burning the yard waste pile when I got there with maybe 100 lbs at most — probably less — and so I threw it on the fire and watched it start to burn as I swept the leaves out of my truck.
When I went across the scale on the way out, I was charged 10 bucks to feed the fire. Wow, light bulb moment. Now I know why someone covered that perfect doley with grass.
I understand the fees for garbage and running the dump in the black, but this was ridiculous. Guess I could have carried them around till free Saturday.
So to you guys dropping all your yard waste around the countryside, knock it off. And to the management of the dumps in the county, I would urge you to reconsider the yard waste policy, and make it easier on those of us trying to be good citizens.
