The Lady Rangers varsity basketball team had some tough home losses over the weekend.

On Friday, Jan. 19, the Lady Rangers fell to the Wind River Cougars 48-35.

Kemmerer senior Taylor Brunski shared her thoughts about the Lady Rangers’ progress throughout the season.

Brunski was an offensive force for the Rangers against the Cougars. She picked up 19 points in Friday’s game against Wind River.

“I think we did a better job at staying patient on our offense and looking for the shots we need.” Brunski said.

Brunski said she also thinks the team needs to work harder on their press break and focus on the fundamentals of the defense.

On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Kemmerer girls fell to Wyoming Indian 59–36.

“The Wyoming Indians were harder to play because they are more aggressive towards going after the ball and have a lot of offensive talent,” Brunski said. “Coach Fagnant has brought a lot of great things to our program this year. We’ve already seen tremendous improvement in our team. I feel like he is exactly what we needed this year to become more competitive and help build our program back to where it was.”

Brunski has been playing basketball for Kemmerer since she started in Junior Jazz.

“I love basketball,” Brunski said. “I like how it pushes me physically and how much competiveness it brings out in me.”

The Lady Rangers J.V. team picked up a win last weekend. The J.V. girls beat the Wind River J.V. team 50–23 on Friday, Jan. 19.

“I think we’re working great as a team,” said Lady Ranger freshman Kyla Pollard. “Our defense and offense are getting better each game. We do need to work on hustling down the court and playing more aggressively.”

The J.V. girls seem to be happy with their new coach, too.

“When it comes to basketball, he knows what he’s talking about and he is committed each day,” Pollard said. “He cares about us and I couldn’t ask for a better coach.”

The Lady Rangers play at Mountain View on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
