Lady Ranger swimmers continue to qualify for state events

The Kemmerer Lady Rangers earned more state qualifications at the Pinedale and Evanston meets.

PINEDALE

On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Lady Rangers competed in the Pinedale Invitational against Lander, Powell, Sublette, Lyman, Evanston and Riverton.

In the diving event at Pinedale, freshman Laurel Clarke finished in third place. In the 50-yard freestyle, Brooklynn Hagler finished 6th and Teryn Thatcher picked up a 12th place finish. Hagler punched her ticket to state in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.12.

Thatcher earned second place in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Krall earned 5th place, swimming a personal best time of 1:03.38. Addison Wilcox and Sophie Failoni also competed in the event.

The Kemmerer team of freshman Cheyann Roose, sophomore Sophie Failoni, freshman Laurel Clarke and sophomore Shelby Swann finished 6th in the 200-yard medley relay.

Senior Alexis Krall finished 7th in the 200-yard freestyle, with a personal best time of 2:21.19.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Hagler finished 11th and earned another state qualification.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Thatcher, Krall, Hagler and Addison Wilcox swam to 5th place.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Thatcher, Krall, Hagler and Wilcox came in 6th place.

EVANSTON

The Lady Rangers traveled to Evanston on Tuesday, Oct. 2, to compete against Evanston and Lyman.

The Kemmerer girls earned first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:05.14.

Senior Brooklynn Hagler finished in second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.82, earning her a state qualification. Teryn Thatcher finished in 9th in the 200-yard freestyle.

Kemmerer swam well in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hagler finished first with a time of 1:18.68. Thatcher finished second with a time of 1:19.02.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Alexis Krall finished in 5th place with a time of 28.67. Addison Wilcox was right behind her with a 6th place finish of 30.35.

Laurel Clarke won the diving event and qualified for state.

The Lady Rangers won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.45.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Addison Wilcox finished in 8th place with a time of 1:09.14.

Alexis Krall earned second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:43.38.

The Kemmerer team finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. 

The Lady Rangers get a little break this weekend, and then swim at Laramie High School on Oct. 12 and 13, before competing at the conference meet in Lander on Oct. 19 and 20.

 Aimone also said that Krall, Wilcox, Failoni and Shelby Swann cut times off their races.

The following Lady Rangers have already qualified for the state meet:

- Sydnie Julander — diving

- Alexis Krall — 100-yard freestyle, 200-freestyle, 500-freestyle

- Brooklynn Hagler — 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle

- Teryn Thatcher — 100-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle
