The Cokeville Lady Panthers were crowned the 1A West Regional Volleyball Champions on Saturday, Oct. 28, in Lander.
The Lady Panthers began their quest for the championship on Friday, Oct. 27, when they faced the Burlington Lady Huskies. Cokeville swept the match, winning 25–18, 25–19 and 25–14. This win earned them a spot in the Championship semi-finals against the Lady Longhorns of Meeteetse.
The Lady Panthers also swept the semi-finals, beating the Lady Longhorns 25–13, 25–16 and 25–19.
This win earned Cokeville a spot in Saturday’s Championship match against the Lady Tigers of Encampment. These two teams had met twice during the season and the Lady Panthers had come away victorious in both meetings, but this was Regionals and the Lady Tigers had already upset Dubois and Snake River to play in the championship match, so Cokeville wasn’t taking anything for granted.
Each game was a battle, but the Lady Panthers dug deep and swept the Championship match, winning 25–23, 27–25 and 25–20. The Lady Panthers will compete at the 1A state tournament in Casper on Friday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 4.
