Hayden Walker, Colter Julian, Donny Proffit and Dawson Schramm made the trip to Virginia Beach, Virginia, with coaches Steve Walker and Ron Schramm to compete with the nation’s best at the National High School Coaches Association wrestling tournament.

More than 3,000 high school wrestlers were entered in this year’s tournament. All the boys started the tournament with 128-man brackets full of two- and three-time state champions from almost every state in the U.S.

Hayden Walker and Dawson Schramm wrestled outstanding matches but came up short of placing in the top eight. They finished the tournament in the top 16 in their weight class.

Donny Proffit wrestled a tough tournament to finish in the top 32 in his weight class, and Colter Julian had a good performance finishing in the round of 64.

These boys have put a lot of time and effort to bettering themselves on a wrestling mat and have done a fantastic job representing the community.

They work hard and dedicate a lot to this sport, and that has proven their ability to wrestle with the best this country has to offer.  They will continue to work hard and get better each time they step on the mat.

A big thank you to KHS coach Cody Hartung for his time in the practice room helping these boys progress. Kemmerer will be sending five young men to the Reno Worlds in April: Hayden Walker, Riggen Walker, Colter Julian, Dawson Schramm and Brendan Miller.
