Kemmerer swim team does well in busy week

The Kemmerer Rangers boys’ swim team has been busy with meets in Lander, Riverton and Kemmerer. 

Lander Meet

On Friday, Dec. 15, the Rangers boys’ swim team traveled to Lander. The boys placed third at the meet with 210 points.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Benjamin Wergin, Alvaro de Vicente, Carl Krell and Brayden Dearden placed third. A second Kemmerer team of Adam Aase, Grady Killian, Collin Smith and Easton Rydstrom earned fifth place.

The boys also did well in the 200-yard freestyle. Krell earned 2nd place, Alvaro de Vicente 5th place and Rydstrom 11th place. In the 200-yard IM, Wergin placed sixth.

Freshman Dearden earned sixth place in the 100-yard butterfly, with Grady Killian in ninth place. Dearden and Killian also did incredibly well in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Dearden finishing first and Killian in second place.

Wergin finished second in the 100-yard freestyle, with Rydstrom coming in seventh. Krell earned second place in the 500-yard freestyle, with Alvaro de Vicente right behind him in third place.

Senior Adam Aase finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. Aase also placed 13th in the 50-yard freestyle. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alvaro de Vicente, Krell, Wergin and Dearden earned third.

Riverton Invite

On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Rangers boys’ swim team traveled to Riverton for an invitational. The Rangers earned fourth place at the meet, beating out rival Sublette County and host team Riverton.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Kemmerer team of Adam Aase, Brayden Dearden, Collin Smith and Easton Rydstrom placed 8th. Alvaro de Vicente earned 5th place in the 200-yard freestyle, and 6th place in the 100-yard freestyle.

Benjamin Wergin earned two 3rd place finishes in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Carl Krell continued to swim well, with two first place finishes at the Riverton meet in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.

Dearden finished 6th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 9th in the 100-yard butterfly.Wergin, de Vicente, Dearden and Krell earned second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Easton Rydstrom placed 11th in the 50-yard freestyle. Rydstrom joined Wergin, de Vicente and Krell to place 4th in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Kemmerer v. Lyman

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, Kemmerer hosted a dual meet against the Lyman Eagles boys’ swim team.The team of Adam Aase, Brayden Dearden, Collin Smith and Alvaro de Vicente placed second in the 200-meter medley relay.  Sophomore Benjamin Wergin finished second in the 200-meter free, with Alvaro de Vicente in fourth place.

Senior Carl Krell finished first in the 200-meter IM. Easton Rydstrom took second in the 50-meter free, with Smith right behind him in third place. Krell earned another first place in the 100-meter fly. Wergin took second in the 100-meter free. Alvaro de Vicente earned a first place finish in the 400-meter free.

The team of Wergin, Rydstrom, Krell and Dearden finished first in the 200-meter free relay. Senior Adam Aase placed second in the 100-meter backstroke. Dearden finished first in the 100-meter breastroke.

The swim team takes a break for Christmas, and then returns to competition on Saturday, Jan. 6, in Evanston.
