Kemmerer Ranger District seeks public comment on grazing proposal

Posted

The Bridger-Teton National Forest is seeking public comment on the proposal to continue livestock grazing within 17 allotments under adjusted management. The Kemmerer Grazing and Rangeland Management Project and the scope of the environmental analysis is open for comment until July 26, 2017. Previous scoping in regards to sheep grazing on these allotments has taken place in 2004 and 2008 on all allotments except the Trespass Creek Allotment.

These allotments are on the Kemmerer Ranger District located in southwestern Wyoming in Lincoln County. The project area encompasses approximately 181,227 acres.

The Kemmerer Ranger District is proposing to continue to authorize livestock grazing with details in the proposal to include an updated grazing management strategy, and a project-wide monitoring plan.

The project is subject to the pre-decisional administrative review process, also known as the objection process (36 CFR 218, Subpart A and B). While comments will be accepted any time during the planning process, to establish standing for objection eligibility, comments must be received during this designated opportunity to comment which is open until July 26, 2017. Only individuals or entities who submit timely and specific written comments about this proposed project during a designated opportunity for public comment established by the responsible official will be eligible to file an objection.

Please address your comments to District Ranger Adriene Holcomb, Kemmerer Ranger District, 308 US HWY 189 North, Kemmerer, WY. 83101. Office hours, for those who wish to hand deliver their comments, are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., MST, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays).
