The Kemmerer High School Class of 2018 will be graduating on Saturday, June 2. We’ve rounded up some of the achievements for graduating athletes from their four years at Kemmerer High.

Cheerleading

Brittni Christen, Juanita Escareno, Jenna Krell and Michelle Nielsen are seniors on the Lady Rangers cheer squad this year. These seniors were part of the Lady Rangers cheerleading team that earned third at state in 2015.

Football

Seniors who played football for the Rangers are Jeff Caugherty, Louis Failoni, Cyrus Skidmore, Coy Taylor and Dax Wright. These seniors helped the Kemmerer Ranger football team end a 36-game regular season losing streak with a 34–0 win against the Saratoga Panthers on Sept. 1, 2017.

Volleyball

Seniors this year are Peyton Ashley, Taylor Brunski, Grace Gregory, Kylee Smith, Katie Zuniga and manager Jordan Boyd.

Gregory has signed to play volleyball with Central Wyoming College. She was named All State for the 2017 volleyball season and All-Conference for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Gregory also earned the title of 2A Southwest Co-Player of the Year. Zuniga earned All-Conference for the 2017 season, and Brunski earned All-State honors in 2016 and All-Conference in 2017.

These senior Lady Rangers were part of the volleyball team that placed second at state in 2015.

Golf

Ty Hysell and Brandon Crank are seniors on the golf team. The seniors helped the Ranger boys earn second place at the 2A state golf meet in the fall of 2017 and second at the 2018 spring golf conference. Hysell consistently led the Rangers at tournaments. He was named All-State in 2017 and 2016, and placed 7th at state in the fall 2017 2A state tournament. Hysell was also All-Conference in spring 2018. Jenna Krell is a senior for the Lady Rangers’ golf team. She helped the Lady Rangers earn fifth at the conference meet this spring.

Benjamin Wergin and Ty Hysell earned All-State honors at the 2017 2A State golf meet by tying for 7th place overall, helping the Rangers earn 2nd place at State. Hysell is a senior who consistently led the Rangers’ golf team.

Girls’ Swimming

Seniors for the Lady Rangers swim team this year were Skylar Morgan and Stevie Moyles.

At the 2017 state swim meet, Moyles competed as part of the 200 medley relay team that finished in 5th place, the best Kemmerer has placed in the 200 medley relay since 2015. Moyles and Morgan were half of the 400-freestyle relay team that won the state consolation final with the fastest time Kemmerer has seen since 2013.

Boys’ Basketball

Louis Failoni, Ty Hysell, Corbin Ourada and Brandon Crank were the seniors for this season’s Ranger basketball team. They led the Rangers to a big victory against the Shoshoni Wranglers this season on Feb. 3, 2018, with a 71–47 win that ended a 34-game losing streak.

Girls’ Basketball

Senior Lady Ranger basketball players are Taylor Brunski, Stevie Moyles and Katie Zuniga. Brunski was named to the 2A Southwest All-Conference team for the past two seasons. Brunski also accepted an invitiation to play in the upcoming North-South All-Star game on July 21, at Casper College.

These seniors were part of the basketball team that earned fourth place at state in 2016.

Boys’ Swimming

Senior Carl Krell was named to the 3A All-State team in 2018. At the 2018 state meet, Krell helped the Rangers earn fourth place. He broke his own 3A record twice in the 100-yard butterfly to take first place. In the preliminaries, Krell had a time of 50.79 seconds, and then he had a time of 50.39 in the finals. The old record was 50.89 seconds, set by Krell in 2016.

Wrestling

Senior Kylee Smith helped the Ranger wrestling team earn fourth at state in 2018 and third at state in 2017. She was one of the few female wrestlers competing in the region.

Track

Katie Zuniga and Louis Failoni were the sole seniors on the track team this year. Zuniga is only the tenth Lady Ranger in Kemmerer history to score points at the state meet in every year of high school.

Zuniga helped the Lady Rangers earn fifth at state this season. She was part of this year’s 4x100 meter relay team that placed third with a time of 53.50 seconds, the best time for a Kemmerer team since 2013. Zuniga also ran as part of the 1600 sprint medley relay team that earned third place.

Failoni earned All-State honors in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He holds the school record for fastest time in the mile race. Failoni won the mile at state in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He earned first place in the 3200-meter race at state this year and in 2017.
