The Kemmerer Gazette was presented with three awards at the Wyoming Press Association winter convention in Casper on Saturday, Jan. 20. The Gazette was judged in the small weeklies category of Wyoming newspapers.

The Gazette earned first place for In-Depth Reporting for the coverage of the D.J. Harrison murder trial. Michelle Tibbetts, Theresa Davis, Lia Martin and Joy Ufford all contributed to those articles. The judges said they awarded the coverage first place because it had "lots of background information and followed the case all along the way."

The Gazette earned second place in the General News Story category for the article, "Residents recognized for helping with murder case" by Theresa Davis. Judges commented: "The fact that this article ran next to the sentencing of the individual apprehended was a great layout move. The article itself gave enough detail about the crime, but focused on the real event which was the awarding of the citizens. Great job!" Click here to read this article.
