The Kemmerer AAU volleyball club kicked off their season on Saturday, March 10, at the Utah Spring Break Tournament.

Amy Butler, Brittney Hartung and Paige Ourada coached the two Kemmerer teams participating in the tournament.

The 16-and-older team went undefeated in pool play, with a 6–0 record that earned them a place in the gold bracket.

The girls then took home a silver medal, placing second in the finals.

“This was a great way to kick off the club season,” Butler said.

With only three practices under their belt, for the team to come out and play so well early on was a great accomplishment

“The girls have great team chemistry and each one contributes something special to the team to really bring them all together,” Hartung said. “I am pleased with how well we played and am excited to see how the rest of the AAU season turns out.”

The 15-and-under Kemmerer team played hard through the day, and took third place in the copper bracket.

“The girls had two very tough games against the teams out of Utah,” Hartung said. “The championship game was hard fought.”

“Our main focus for the club is being aggressive,” Butler said.  “We want to have a mind set of playing to win. The girls are working well together and we have seen great improvements after only three practices this week. We will continue on working on our hitting and passing and defense needs improvement.

The two teams will head to Logan, Utah, for another tournament on Saturday, March 24.
