KEMMERER— An indoor soccer tournament was held at the Kemmerer Recreation Center on Saturday, Nov. 16. Participants played two 20-minute periods, and the ladies on the team earned two points if they scored. The event brought out six teams to compete: Real Bridger Valley (Bridger Valley), La Blanquirroja (Bedford), Fugeo (Evanston), Kemmerer (Kemmerer/LaBarge), Randolph (Randolph, Utah) and Sporting Cristal (Riverton). The tournament kicked off at 10 a.m., with Real Bridger Valley playing La Blanquirroja. Real Bridger Valley fell short, 10-1 and went on to play Sporting Cristal next. La Blanquirroja had to wait for three games to finish before they could play again.

Fugeo beat Randolph 15-6. Fugeo and Randolph both played Kemmerer later in the tournament. Sporting Cristal and Real Bridger Valley played next, with Real Bridger Valley already at one loss in the double-elimination tournament. Unfortunately for them, they were ousted by Sporting Cristal, 13-4.

Up next was Kemmerer against Randolph, with Kemmerer falling short 6-10. Sporting Cristal went on to play a close game against La Blanquirroja, with the Riverton team winning 7-5.

For the third-place game, it was Fugeo against Randolph, with Randolph winning to take third place. During the championship game, it was Sporting Cristal versus La Blanquirroja, and at the end of regulation the score was tied 7-7. Five minutes were added for two periods, making overtime 10 minutes long. After the overtime the score was tied again 10-10. The game resumed with a sudden-death format, meaning whoever made the next goal would win. That happened to be Sporting Cristal, which was awarded first place. The trophies that were handed out were donated by Cowboy State Trucking.
